    The BMAA committee is hosting its first Sound Session and networking event at the Wax Music Lounge in Melbourne. This is a paid opportunity for emerging artists to perform up to three of their songs to a live audience, followed by the chance to connect with BMAA members, other musicians and music industry representatives. One of the pillars of BMAA’s mission is to facilitate a platform for artists of the African diaspora to showcase their musical talent and network with key music industry people.

    Rick Howe, host of 106.7 PBS FMs ‘Riddim Yard’ show (check it out Friday 11am-1pm) is joined by Modern Hypnosis label boss Stormn Norm for an all vinyl affair selecting the latest & greatest in reggae, dub, dancehall and bass this Thursday! Riddim Yard is the home of foundation Jamaican music. It's a bass heavy journey from the tenement yards of Kingston, to the sound systems of the UK. Rare and timeless vinyl is flipped and sent through the echo chambers of Dub in a traditional salute to Reggae purists.

    World renown soul artist Daniel Merriweather links up with Melbourne DJ/producer Hudson James Jr for a live set of improvised soul vocals and uptempo soulful beats. Opening for them are Japanese musicians Nana (Trumpets) & Sakiko (Saxophone) performing live over Sakiko sample-based production. 7pm-1am

    Heavy Heavy Heavy is a 3 piece consisting of hip-hop producer Sensible J on drums, piano wizard Grant Windsor on keys and funky man Caleb Shand on bass. Their mission is to rock out with reintepreattions of some of your favourite hip-hop instrumentals as well as inmprovising their own throughout their sets. Guest MCs and soul vocalists have a habit of popping up on the M-I-C. Get down to feel the funk!
